Fleet Town Colts Red Vs Mytchett Boys Athletic
15th November 2009
Score 0-1
The Reds dominated the game but went behind on the first Mytchett attack. As it turned out, Mytchett only had a handful of attacks the whole game, yet we were unable to turn the pressure into a goal. We hit the post, hit the bar, had a penalty saved and had a couple of efforts cleared off the line. It was just not our day. I cannot fault the team as we played so well and at some point this season we will get our run of good luck to balance out the bad luck we have had so far this season. The result of the game is disappointing but if anything we have learned that we can win this league.
Man of the match went deservedly to Duncan Banham for the second week running and James Barrett was given the Coach’s award for a fine first half save and his overall attitude and performance. All the boys played well and to those that didn’t start or who were taken off I would like to say that this is the price of playing in a strong squad and none of them deserved to be substitute or to be substituted. I would ask that they console themselves with the fact that they are good players in a good team but that only eleven can be on the pitch at one time – certainly substitutions are now being made as a tactic rather than a refection of individual performance

Reds Vs Finchampstead FC
League Cup 2nd Round
Score 0-3
8th November 2009
Premiership side Finchampstead were let off the hook by our flat performance. All three goals (one in the first half and two towards the end of the second) were against the run of play and it must be said that we missed a glorious chance of moving forward in the cup and grabbing the scalp of a premiership team. Having said that; it must also be said that we were without several key players and that the last time the teams met in the cup Finchampstead ran out 10-1 winners, so even on paper there has been a vast improvement in the last two years. In reality the improvement is even more impressive when you consider that we were very disappointed not to get a result today despite not playing at our best.
Man of the match was the outstanding Duncan Banham and the coach’s award went to Nathan Sandels for a fine performance and the effort that he put in all game. The player of the month for October was awarded to Jamie Clare for his consistent performances and his 100% record at training – well done to all three of them
Thanks to Keith and Ian for taking up the linesman duties

Rushmoor Saints v Fleet Town Reds
1st November 2009
Score 1-3
Hard game that had both scrappy and good periods. We introduced a new player in defense – Josh Woodhatch – who played a great debut game and was both solid and vocal at the back. For his performance Josh shared the man of the match award with Jack Shrubshall who also ran, tackled, chased and pushed for 90 minutes.
Others played well and. although I am not going to mention them all, note should be made of Duncan Banham who had been ill all week but again turned in a fine performance in defence as well as in midfield when the team needed him to do so – well done Duncan.
It was disappointing to watch our competitors swear and kick their way through the game but we should be happy for the way that our team did not react to any of it. We took a 2-0 lead through goals from Leigh Penny who again turned on the class. However we let Rushmoor back in the game towards the end and at 2-1 we were under a lot of pressure until Nathan Sandals finished off a good Reds move with a well-taken goal.
The coach’s award was given to Josh Ambrose for his effort on and off the pitch

With players away and injury hit so it was a good day for Leigh Penny to make his debut for the Reds. With just the bare eleven, including Mike Clare bravely playing through injury, the boys turned in a fabulous performance and Headley probably played their best game of the season to keep it to only six against. After a brave run from Josh, Foxy finished off the move and continued his run – now scoring in all of the first six games of the season – to open the scoring. Another brave effort from Leigh saw him open his account with the Reds and before the end of the first half which he soon added to with a wonder goal from thirty yards out on the wing. In the second half the Reds dominated the game and it was strange that it took us so long to get the next goal, however it did come after Leigh was brought down in the box and Jamie Clare converted the spot kick. Adam took advantage of a fine Nathan Sandals corner to poke in number five and Leigh rounded the game off with his third and our sixth with another finely taken goal.
Everyone of the team played extremely well and anyone could have got the man of the match award. As it was it was given to Leigh Penny for a fantastic debut and a stunning – hat-trick. The Coach’s award was given to Mike Clare for a fine performance that was given despite the injury he was carrying. However, I think everyone deserves to take credit for our best team performance so far this year.

Scrappy game played on long grass and not our best performance of the season. We did go in front with a goal from Duncan early in the first half but soon after we found ourselves 2-1 behind. James Barrett continued his scoring run by bringing us level but right on the stroke of half time we went behind again and at 3-2 down we made changes to tighten things up. Iin the second half we came back stronger but fell further behind on a Pertersfield break. Two goals down and with around six minutes left we went 4-3-3 and with the boys showing a lot of grit we managed to pull things back with two goals from Jack (Foxy) keeping up his 100% goal scoring record this term.
In the end it was a point won but we will need to improve if we want to push for the title this year.
Man of the match was Stephen West for his attitude and is endevour throughout the game. The Coachs award went to second half goalkeeper Liam Ayling for a super save. Thanks to Ted for running the and Sam for all his help with training the team his advice and team talk at half time

Scrappy game with a lot of the boys carrying knocks – however, it was a good win and we must look at the positives. We took the lead through a fine effort from Nathan but halfway through the first half we were loosing 1 – 2. Goals from James and Elliott meant that we were just ahead 3-2 at half time. In the second half we took control without really playing well and, although Hartley Witney did sneak another goal, Elliott continued his good scoring streak by getting another two goals and claiming his first hat-trick of the season. Foxy also managed to keep up his 100% record with a fine header but missed out on adding to more, unlike James who having scored his first for the Reds in the first half duly scored his second in the second half.
Man of the match went to Jamie Clare who was on top of his game and easily the best player on the pitch. Elliott Ward got the Coach’s award for his cracking hat-trick and the player of the month was awarded to Captain Duncan Banham for his fine performances on the pitch and his 100% training record in September
