U9  Fleet Town Leopards  0  Staines Albion  1  (SPL Div 2)
Fleet hosted lower side Albion in search of 3pts to begin their push for a higher league position. Without really being troubled by Albion, Fleet struggled to get any fluency going and we looked scrappy going forward. Individually the boys played well but never truly connected with each other, so only created half chances themselves. Toward the end of the first half, Albion pounced on a long through ball to catch us cold. 1-0 was how it remained despite the boys hard work and individual efforts having tried and tried again. Thought all defenders played well today and Man of the Match was awarded to Rory Venter.

U9  Fleet Town Leopards  0  Chertsey Town Blues  4  (SPL Div 2)
Fleet gave a good footballing account of themselves today against table topping Chertsey. First half we matched them but twice they showed us how to bury the ball when the chances come. 2-0 down into the second and although without the luxury of a sub, Fleet looked much the stronger and determined side. But hard work and pressure we created turned to very little in the last third and we weren't clinical enough in the box. Again toward the end, Chertsey struck twice again and confirmed the old saying "if you don't shoot ~ you don't score". Despite the flattering scoreline, there were many positives in our game with Liam and Rory giving 100% in defence. Our passing at times was very encouraging and Ellis proved you don't need to 'kick n run' 20yrds to gain ground. Man of the match went to Ellis Hicks, showed today how to make the ball do the work.

U9  Farnham Utd Bears  4  Fleet Town Leopards  2  (Cup)
SPL Senior Plate U9's Qtr Final. Div 2 Fleet went to Div 1 Farnham for what turned into a cracking Qtr final. Classic example of 'a game of two halves' with Fleet wondering what had hit them at the start! Within minutes we were 2-0 down, shell shocked and all at sea from wave after wave of pressure. Then the tide began to change and Fleet started believe, attack and getting closer to scoring. Definitely finishing the half the stronger side, even Mathew had the nerve to hit the bar from within his own half. Into the 2nd half and we now had Farnham on the rack, getting closer and closer with it being just a matter of time. Mathew and Alex now claiming the midfield pushed forward to create chances for themselves, Jack and Jay. One way traffic now and 2-0 quickly became 2-2 with Jay being in the right place to squeeze home both. Could of come out clear winners here, Jay denied a clear penalty and Jack's free kick finger tipped away by a very good keeper. As even as even gets now and we looked for the winner but we were finished off at the end by a very clinical Striking Bear! 4-2 at the close but Fleet can take this form back in to the league and look for a healthy Div2 finish. Man of the Match went to a very shattered Mathew Teagle, involved in everything the Leopards created today.

U9  Fleet Town Leopards  5  Farnham Utd Puma's  1  (Cup)
SPL Senior Plate U9's 1st rd. After a huge layoff from football we all looked forward to this game. The boys excelled themselves and came out rightly winners with some great football. 15 minutes into the game and all even, Fleet then turned the screw and camped in their half. With half time looming, Dan fired in a low corner for Jay to spin on a sixpence and smash the ball home. 1-0 up into the second and Fleet started to dominate whilst the Puma's had the occasional excursion in to our box. Very soon it was 3-0 with Jack and Jay adding to the tally. Our 4th goal would be on the end credits of Match of the Day it was that good! Mathew, Jack, Dan and Liam all involved with inch perfect passes for Jay to slot home his Hat-trick. We then got a reminder from their hard hitting forward who buried an un-stoppable shot to make it 4-1. Toward the end, Rory settled matters by bending in a corner which was clearly on its way in despite the keepers help. This 5-1 was a fair result against a team sitting higher than us in the league, so very well done to the boys who all played as team. Man of the Match went to Liam Weldon who doesn't like to be beaten, when he is he certainly makes up for it.

U9  Windlesham Hornets  7  Fleet Town Leopards  0  (Cup)
Fleet played a lot better than the score line suggests against this league one side. From the whistle it was obvious why the Hornets are unbeaten and sitting top of their table. Although we were constantly on the defensive, it was a while before the deadlock was broken. A free kick, hit with pace into the box took about 4 deflections on its way in. Then almost immediately, another free kick was sent into Mathew's top left corner. Hard work from everyone, a safe pair of hands and brave display from Mathew had been undone by 2 set pieces. Into the second half and the Hornets were crawling all over us with them queuing up to score. Given the quality of the opposition, the Leopards did well to stop this easily going into double figures. Man of the Match awarded to Mathew Teagle, looked very comfortable in all the roles he played today.

U9  Fleet Town Leopards   4  Goldsworth Park Rangers Warriors  3  (SPL Div 2)
The in form and confident Leopards met the Warriors on our boggy home pitch looking for the long awaited 3pts. In danger of becoming the league's draw specialists, an early goal set us on our way. Another pin-point corner from Rory met the head of Alex steering it down into the bottom right hand corner. But this wasn't going to be an easy game as the Warriors are a better side than their league position suggests. With both sides really having a go at each other it wasn't long before the score was all even at 1-1. Probably against the run of play, a ball crossed over deflected in off one of our defenders knee to put them 1-2 up. When not stuck in the mud, our defence played a huge part today with Jake & Co clearing the ball with real purpose. With half time approaching Jack went on one of his runs down the right, cut in on his left to beat the keeper at the near post. With the score level at 2-2 into the second, Fleet raised their game with our midfielders and forward running riot. Jayden latched on to a great pass from Liam to bury his shot putting us 3-2 up. Mathew, Liam, Jayden and Jack were linking up well, passing the ball around along with through balls forward giving each other chances. Constant pressure they applied could of turned into 4 or 5, but a break away found us short at the back for Goldsworth to score with ease 3-3. Now with only minutes to go the two sides were like boxers, slugging it out to claim the winner. A thrilling end saw Jayden netting his 2nd and the winning goal, with Alex also ensuring it stayed at 4-3 with a brave one-on-one stop in the last few seconds. Man of the Match went to Jake Cranstone, played with passion and purpose today.

U9  Chertsey Town Blues  5  Fleet Town Leopards  1  (SPL Div 2)
Fleet made the long trip to early league leaders Chertsey with thoughts of an upset. We started really well and matched them, having as many if not more chances at goal. Could really of gone in at half time 2-1 up but this was not going to be our day. 1-0 down into the second and we should of had a penalty, a goal bound shot clearly hit the defenders hand. The ref put the whistle to his mouth but bottled the decision at the last moment. Chertsey's passing now started to open us up at the back and we conceded 3 goals in next to no time. Rory and George in defence worked very hard and we looked very determined going forward. We left our best to the last 10min with Mathew, Jay and Jack all over them like a rash. Jay eventually getting us a goal back late on, but we had left it all to late. Man of the Match awarded to George Dunster, very decisive in defence this week.

U9  Fleet Town Leopards  1  Badshot Lea Bulls  1  (SPL Div 2)
Once again, Two very evenly matched sides that slugged it out in midfield to gain control. Fleet looked the more positive attacking side as i dont remember Mathew having to make a save. Saying that, another indecisive moment between keeper and defender saw the Badshot striker toe-poke over the line. 1-0 down for the majority of the first half yet still we looked most likely to score. Seconds before the half time whistle and Jayden found himself bearing down on the keeper destined to score. But a brave 50/50 block by the keeper foiled his effort and with a little luck the ball fell to Joel who instinctively buried it into an open net. 1-1 into the second half and it was a case who could get the break-thru, end to end and this could of been a 4-4 draw. Now our defence were working as a unit, each covering each other to great effect. Liam doing his upmost and being in the right place at the right time. We could of gone on to win this with Dan, Jay and Jack linking up well going forward. Just lacked that final clinical finish. Man of the Match awarded to Liam Weldon, used every part of his body to defend today.

U9  Leopards  0  Potley & Frogmore  4  (SPL Div 2)
A very strange result in a game that Fleet dominated heavily in the first half. Our midfield of Joel, Liam and Jack had the lions share of possession and played virtually in their half throughout. Having said that, never really creating any clear cut chances for themselves or Jayden. In a rare Potley attack which we had ample time to clear the ball, it ran loose and was put away with confidence by the home side. 1-0 down at half time and this just appeared to be a blip that we would come back from. Much of the same into the second but then Potley started to get hold of the game as Fleet tired under the sun with no subs. Toward the end Fleet had nothing left in the gas tank and conceded 2 very late goals which flattered Potley. Super display from the midfield today covering lots of ground and in there was our Man of the Match, Jack Stearman. Ray.....

U9  Leopards   6  Guildford Saints  4  (SPL Div 2)
The Leopards made a positive start and forced an early goal. Guildford responded immediately with end to end action saw Fleet finish the first half 4-1 up after Jayden Cox bagging a tremendous hat-trick. The second half saw Guildford clawing the game back to 4-3, with the Leopards Alex Perkins making some excellent saves in goal. Jack Stearman shifted into high gear with a well orchestrated move round 2 defenders and increased the score to 5-3. Guildford managed to get past a resilient back wall to get another goal, but Jayden Cox scored at 4th to secure a great win for the Leopards. MoM – The Team!
