The Club was formed in May 1992, by Mr Derrill Carr, who took twelve boys for football training at Calthorpe Park. This number grew to in excess of 20 boys, all under eight at the time. Fees were taken from the children, so they could enjoy these coaching sessions and from the fees, training balls and bibs were purchased.
In June of 1992, the club as it stands today was formed. A refreshment stall was opened by the parents at every Sunday morning training session, to raise money for the club. The number of children had grown to thirty!
In July 1992, sponsorship was gained to supply two complete football strips and over forty boys were now attending training.
Other sponsorship followed, which covered three new match balls and “man of the match” trophies foe each team that had formed. In August 1993, the club registered three teams with the 3 Counties Alliance league of Hampshire, Berkshire & Surrey.
The club also pressed the local authority to provide two children’s pitches at Calthorpe Park, to which they readily agreed. By September 1993, the number of playing members had risen to fifty. A grant application was made to Hart District Council and £600 was secured. The money was put towards purchasing more strips and tracksuit tops.
In December 1993, the first Christmas party was held for all the children and this has become a regular feature ever since. In May 1993, the club held a “Fun Day” at the Fleet Town Football Club ground, 150 people attended.
This function was also attended by local dignitaries from Hart District Council. This Fun Day has remained an integral part of the Club’s calendar, for an ever increasing number of boys and girls.
The Club was awarded the FA Charter Standard Award in 2003. The FA Charter Standard Scheme is a best practice guide that sets standards of coaching, administration and child protection for clubs working with young people. As a benchmark for quality, it will improve the playing experience for all.
The club has gone from strength to strength where it is today the largest football club in the Surrey, Hampshire, and Berkshire area. We have some 400 members with representative teams in every age group from Under 7 through to Under 16. There is a vibrant ‘Saturday Morning Club’ for the Under 5 and 6’s with day membership peaking at 95 players. We train and play matches at Calthorpe Park (6 pitches), and All Saints School, competing in the Surrey Primary League and the North East Hants Youth League.
The Club has developed a close association with Fleet Town Football Club and a number of our players have gone on to represent Fleet Town in the first team. We use the Fleet Town club house facilities, Colts players are mascots at Fleet Town home games and the annual Fun Day is held at the club’s home ground.
